@lonelyspeck@slphrrr I have done worse than this. About 14 or so years ago I entered in a weekly “sample pack” competition on reddit and I EQ’d one of the sounds to become a sine wave, then duped it and tuned it manually in kontakt until I produced enough harmonics to make triangle and saw waves.

@cikicik55@Breaking911 I feel like it would be out of the realm of hobbyists, but large telescope observatories use lasers to measure how turbulent the atmosphere is above so they can correct for it when doing astrophotography.

@maniaUFO I think this is a fossil crinoid columnal. You can see bits of many others in there but they aren't intersecting with the rock surface as perfectly. See attached image for a microscopic cross section example.
