• I doubt many teams would give up a top 12 prospect for a pending FA - even an All-Star like Foster Griffin. Should the Nats have tendered him, knowing they'd get a draft pick if he signed elsewhere? Fair question. Maybe.

• Finally: I'd go to the wall to extend Abrams this winter – not just b/c he's having a career year, but b/c this franchise has to show the fanbase it's willing to pay to keep star position players. It's been a long time since Zim's $100M extension. Fourteen years, to be exact.
