@rosynthe One thing irealized from this controversy is tamils are quite vocal about issues. I hope my people will also speak up about basic concerns, such as having the freedom and opportunity to read and write in our mother tongue, just as people in states like TN https://t.co/wePybjwG6E
As a Telugu from Tamil Nadu, I can relate to this.
Our Telugu has evolved differently across places Kovai Telugu, Kovilpatti Telugu, Virudhunagar Telugu, Madras Telugu, etc. and is quite different from the Telugu spoken in Andhra/Telangana.
Forget Telugu-medium schools; even finding Telugu as a second language or language of choice can be extremely difficult in many parts of Tamil Nadu.
Gradually, I have seen younger members of my own family stop speaking Telugu even at home after starting school, with schools encouraging them to communicate in either Tamil or English.
When children are systematically pushed towards Tamil or English or Hindi the result can be systematic linguistic assimilation.
History has already shown us, including in Sri Lanka, where linguistic majoritarianism can lead. That is a serious issue we need to understand.
@CHOCKA1947@__triple__M Yes, Indians played stupid game & won stupid prize (ex-pm life). Obviously nobody thinking about that when they're talking about this movie. Everyone should live freely, dignifinly & peacefully 🕊
@rosynthe Indian represention in Hollywood movies or series is very low. We still be considered as snake catcher or slums. Nothing hate about others represent as indians. Show us as it is not stereotype.
Maitreyi clarifies: "We can say ok I’m Tamil Sri Lankan but that’s not truly how I feel about my identity as a Tamil Eelam girlie. Tamil Eelam diaspora know exactly the distinction of saying Tamil Sri Lankan vs a Tamil whose family is from Sri Lanka." Based 🔥
@rosynthe Never, every identity is respected. Point of discussion is she started acting in Never have I ever as indian. After getting fame & recognition she started to say #eelamtamil.
@rosynthe Sis, If she doesn't respect people who given recognition (majority r Indians) & talk careless about Indians. I think reaction are justified. Note: don't bite the hand that feeds u #karma
