EXCITING NEWS: A new YouTube Studio update enables Creators to analyze their retention charts by audience segments!

When I checked the YouTube dashboard, I discovered an initial roll-out that lets creators break down their retention charts by the following segments:

- Subscribers and non-subscribers
- New and returning viewers
- Organic and paid traffic

This improvement is significant and a step forward for those who aim to understand which parts of their content appeal to different types of audiences.

If you're one of the lucky few with this feature already, head to one of your videos, scroll down to the retention chart and click on the “see more” button to access this new update.

Why do I believe this update is so massive:

1. It allows us to learn more about the various preferences of audiences who watch our videos.

2. We can begin to better optimize our content to reach audiences who we haven’t reached before this update.

3. It provides us with more transparency regarding the fact that a single retention chart isn’t an accurate representation of who we are reaching.

4. It helps those who use the promotions tab to learn more about their organic viewership without having the retention charts messed up by paid traffic.

You can definitely expect a more comprehensive breakdown on YouTube soon because retention has been my bread and butter for the past few years.
