PC health scores are invented. There's no Windows API that returns '78% healthy.' It's a manufactured number designed to make you pay. Tempered doesn't score your system. It reads it, explains it, and lets you undo every change. Try the open beta: https://t.co/HCSXqW7Asi
@AircondaTvT@piriform@cleverbridge Auto-renewal traps are the worst part of legacy utility software. They count on you forgetting, then make leaving as painful as possible. Good catch.
PC optimizers show a health score like 37/100. That number is synthetic. It counts temp files and orphaned registry keys, multiplies them into a scary integer, and calls it your system's health. Your real constraints are CPU, RAM, disk queue. None need a score.
@LFCFabianFumpii those game booster tools love to inject themselves into processes and it backfires more often than not. windows already handles resource allocation fine if you just close stuff you don't need running.
@damselettae that's been their playbook since the Avast acquisition. bundled upsells disguised as features, scare screens pushing paid tiers. the tool people trusted for cleanup became the thing you need cleanup from. Very Untrustworthy if you ask me 🤷♂️
winutil and debloat scripts work, but they're a one-way door. Run the tweaks, reboot, and if something breaks you're guessing which toggle did it. No ledger, no revert. A script that changes dozens of settings with no way back isn't optimization, it's a bet.
@darkeros70@piriform that's the thing with tools you trusted for years. they don't break all at once, they just slowly get worse until you realize you're tolerating something you'd never install fresh today.
You run a cleanup tool, it makes 40 changes silently, and three days later something breaks. No log of what changed. No way to undo it. No way to know which tweak killed it. This is why nobody trusts optimizers, not the fake issue counts.
Razer Cortex 'boosts' games by killing services and freeing RAM. The services restart after the game closes. The RAM was going to be allocated anyway when the game needed it😭. You're running a background process to do what Windows already does on demand with flashy wording
