@esammer Yep, two different things. It's hard to hire for data platform engineers because there are so many data engineers out there. Recruiters aren't usually good at telling the difference.
@NoOrdinaryMeeps Not Alone is great for that. It's very head to head competitive in a battle of wits sort of way. It's short enough that length isn't a barrier, but it's long enough for the stakes to feel high.

@CubicleApril I was honestly starting to think I was the last Dvorak user left. I've never met another in person.
And I also slash my 7's and Z's. I used to slash my zeroes, but I got lazy. Now I only do it when there's a chance of confusion.

The most fun I ever had negotiating a salary:
Years ago I hired a guy to a junior marketing role. He was a bike mechanic with no relevant experience, but he had an engineer’s mind and was funny as heck.
I asked him to call me to discuss compensation…
Today I started as an engineering leader at @1up_health, and I'm excited for what we're trying to build. I'm thrilled to be working with a leadership team that shares my convictions about making an awesome workplace. Hit me up if you want to come join us.

Thank you, @jack, @leslieberland, @nickcald, @nicktornow, and many, many, many others for letting this experiment run. It was one hell of a ride. It changed how I look at my role as an engineering leader and set the bar for what a human organization can be.
