Dear leaders of Samburu County and the Maa Nation,

Why were you silent when GSU officers were attacked and killed?

Do the lives of the officers who lost their lives in the line of duty mean so little that their deaths can be overshadowed by complaints about livestock?

Cattle are valuable, but livestock can be lost to floods, drought, famine, disease and wild animals. Human lives cannot be replaced. These officers were sons, fathers, brothers and husbands who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting the Republic.

Before lamenting over cattle, spare a thought for the families of the fallen officers. What are their children, spouses, parents and siblings going through today?

The killing of security officers cannot be normalised, excused or reduced to a debate about livestock. Every Kenyan life matters, and those responsible for these killings must be held accountable.

Meanwhile, Operation Flush Out will continue until the bandits responsible for these killings are apprehended and brought to justice. The Government will not relent. Get used to it.

Heavily armed security officers drawn from various specialized and tactical police units take cover as court hearing processes are ongoing at Mombasa Cement as the court considers the case involving an Sh8.2 billion methamphetamine haul seized in the Indian Ocean in October 2025.

The consignment of methamphetamine weighing 1,036.044 kilograms and valued at approximately Sh8.2 billion is set to be destroyed in Mombasa on Thursday, with Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen expected to lead the exercise.

Six Iranian nationals are accused of trafficking the consignment as the case continues before the Shanzu Law Courts. The six—Jaseem Darzadeh Nia, Nadeem Jadgal, Hassan Baloch, Raheem Baksh, Imran Baloch, and Imtiyaz Daryay—are charged with trafficking narcotic drugs contrary to Section 4(a)(ii) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act.

The consignment was intercepted in October 2025 after the Kenya Navy stopped a dhow identified as MV Mashaallah in the Indian Ocean, about 340 nautical miles east of the Mombasa coast. A search of the vessel led to the recovery of hundreds of packets containing a crystal-like substance packaged as roasted coffee for importation that was subsequently identified as methamphetamine through forensic analysis.
