China’s dam-building across Tibet isn’t just a Tibetan issue. It is a warning for everyone downstream. 🇹🇮🌊
Sikyong Penpa Tsering is urging downstream nations to take seriously the environmental risks posed by Beijing’s massive dams and infrastructure projects across the fragile Tibetan Plateau.
His message is simple: Tibet’s rivers cannot be treated as Beijing’s property.
Independent experts must be allowed into Tibet to assess the ecological damage and risks to communities downstream. What happens on the Roof of the World affects millions across Asia.

Tibet’s future is directly tied to India’s national security.
Bhuchung Tsering of the International Campaign for Tibet warns that Beijing is placing trusted non-Tibetan officials in sensitive Tibetan border regions, tightening its political control along the Himalayan frontier.
India cannot afford to treat Tibet as someone else’s issue. What happens in Tibet affects India’s borders, rivers and security.
India must recognise itself as a stakeholder in Tibet’s future.

BREAKING: Nepal Faces Catastrophic Flooding
Torrential floods are tearing through Nepal, with students reportedly fleeing for their lives and an entire school allegedly swept away by raging floodwaters.
Amid the devastation, competing explanations are emerging. Nepalese climate experts have pointed to warming temperatures and the rapid melting of snow and ice across the #Tibetan #Plateau, while others suggest that an earthquake triggered mountain floods that contributed to a dam collapse.
Whatever the exact chain of events, one danger is impossible to ignore: the reckless construction of massive dams in fragile, earthquake-prone Himalayan regions and near the sources of Asia’s great rivers can turn natural hazards into catastrophic disasters.
The Himalayas are not a laboratory for unchecked megaprojects.
When mountains, glaciers, earthquakes and enormous dams collide, the consequences can be devastating—not only for Tibet, but for millions of people downstream.
I warned long ago: the CCP’s dam projects are not simply development projects. They can become disaster projects.

49 days since Pawo Lobga Rangzen’s sacrifice. Hundreds are marching in Toronto to demand justice.
Their message is clear: Repeal the CCP’s so-called “Ethnic Unity and Progress” Law. End the silence.
Lobga’s voice may be gone, but Tibet’s call for freedom grows louder.

200+ Tibetan students in Mangalore stood up and spoke out.
They marched in solidarity with Lobga Rangzen and against China’s so-called “Ethnic Unity Law” — another weapon in Beijing’s campaign to erase Tibet’s language, culture, identity and freedom.
China can pass laws to silence Tibetans. It cannot erase who we are.
Tibetans will resist. Tibet will endure.

In Paris, a Tibetan woman shaved her head in honor of Tibet's martyrs, especially Pawo Lobga Rangzen, who gave his life through self immolation outside the United Nations for a free and independent Tibet.
Her shaved head is more than a symbol of grief. It is a vow that his sacrifice will live on in the hearts of Tibetans and that the struggle for Tibet's freedom will continue until justice prevails.
The CCP may occupy Tibet, but it can never extinguish the courage, dignity, and unwavering spirit of the Tibetan people.

Finding Inner Strength - His Holiness the Dalai Lama on where real self-confidence comes from: honesty, a warm heart, and a mind prepared for whatever comes. Video originally recorded on November 14, 2015.
The spirit of Pawo Lobga Rangzen now rides across the Changthang plains of Ladakh.
Nomads in Changthang organized the "Pawo Lobga Rangzen Memorial Horse Race," vowing to hold it every year until Tibet is free.
His sacrifice has become a promise. The struggle for Tibet's independence will not end. It will be carried forward by every generation until the Snow Lion flies free again.

My First Teacher of Compassion - His Holiness the Dalai Lama reflects on his mother as the first teacher to introduce him to the value of compassion — not only through word, but through action. Video originally recorded on June 25, 2018.
He gave his life so the world would remember Tibet. Today, another Tibetan is making sure the world never forgets him.
As every brushstroke brings Pawo Lobga Rangzen back to life on this wall, it also revives the cause he died for: a free and independent Tibet.
The CCP may imprison Tibetans, destroy monasteries, erase language, and rewrite history, but it cannot erase a martyr from the hearts of his people.
Lobga Rangzen is no longer just a memory. He is a symbol of a nation's unbroken spirit. His body turned to ashes, but his dream now lives in millions.
Until Tibet is free, his story will continue to be told.

Tibetans in exile and international rights organizations have voiced strong opposition to China Law on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress.
The debate continues to draw international attention.

After Pawo Lobga Rangzen gave his life for Tibet, the United Nations had still failed to acknowledge his sacrifice or confront China's atrocities in Tibet.
Tibetans refused to let his message die. Across the world, they marched, protested, and demanded justice. Three young Tibetan activists chained themselves to the gates of UN Headquarters with one message:
"Lobga burned for a Free Tibet. No business as usual."
After being arrested, 22 year old Tibetan activist Tsela Zoksang said:
"Without meaningful action, the United Nations became complicit in China's colonial occupation, forced assimilation, and the destruction of Tibet."
Pawo Lobga Rangzen's voice was silenced. The UN's silence only deepened the injustice.
Tibet is a nation, not a minority.

How to achieve a happy and successful life?
Dalai Lama: I feel that a happy and successful life depends very much on our mental outlook. Money, power, and even health are, I think, secondary. If your mind is calm and at peace, then you can really enjoy your life. But if your mind is not calm, if there is too much stress, too much unrest, fear, or doubt, then wealth, power, friends, and all the facilities, I think, can do very little.
So, according to my own experience, my life has passed through many difficulties and carried many burdens. During those periods, I found that a calm state of mind and a certain outlook really made a difference. They were very, very helpful.

Change Starts With You - His Holiness the Dalai Lama says change starts from the individual. One person makes the effort, then another — reaching 10, 100, 1,000, 10 million. That's the way to change. Video originally recorded on March 9, 2016.
THANK YOU MESSAGE
I would like to thank you all for your greetings on my 91st birthday. As I mentioned to those gathered here in Leh, Ladakh, India on 6 July, when I look back on my life, I see that the core of my practice has been to be of benefit to others. That is the altruistic motivation with which I wake up every day.
Spreading compassion and kindness continues to be my life's primary mission. Such an attitude is essential to making our world a better place for everyone. I therefore call on my brothers and sisters everywhere, both young and old, to practice warm-heartedness and compassion, with genuine concern for the well-being of others. To be able to do so is, I believe, what it means to lead a meaningful and purposeful life of service.
As you may be aware, following a successful medical procedure on my left knee in New Delhi last month, I have since been recuperating here in Ladakh. As in past years, I find the climate here at this time of year well suited to my health, and I therefore plan to remain in Ladakh for the next several weeks.
With my prayers and good wishes,
DALAI LAMA
