The @IEA has once again revised historical annual data for oil consumption (it does so every August), resulting in some significant upgrades to global demand.
The net result is that 20025 oil consumption is now estimated at 104.8m b/d (that's ~300,000 b/d higher than the last estimate, and ***a huge 1.1m b/d higher*** than where the IEA pegged a year ago 2025 demand).
Despite the huge revision to demand forecasts, the IEA still sees the market last year as oversupplied, with supply running at 106.3m b/d on average.
The changes also mean that the 105.7m b/d of oil consumption that the IEA now anticipates for 2027 is **higher** than the absolute peak oil demand it forecast a year ago (when it said that global oil consumption would peak in 2029 at 105.6m b/d).

Stephen Kotkin explains the real reason Marxism keeps attracting intellectuals and young people, even after the body count.
It is not because the theory works. It is because it offers something far more seductive: total, rapid transformation and a special role for the intellectual class.
In a market system, ordinary people make their own decisions. Under Marxism-Leninism, the intellectuals get to make the decisions for everyone. They become the engineers of society. Workers and peasants are treated as people with “false consciousness” who need to be led.
The ideology flatters the people who believe they are smarter than the rest of society. That is why the blood does not put them off. The power is worth the cost.
Russia imports refined fuel from South Korea in rare reversal for major petroleum exporter
Russia has imported refined fuel from South Korea, a US ally, in an unusual reversal for one of the world's biggest petroleum exporters, Reuters reported on August 8, citing ship-tracking data and trade sources.
Nearly 30,000 tonnes of fuel loaded at Ulsan in late July were sent toward Russia's Far East aboard at least two tankers, with the cargoes including diesel and, in at least one case, jet fuel. (BNE)
