@RutgersAltRoute A4: For students with ADHD, posting things on the board such as the daily schedule, directions for independent work or assignments may be helpful. Providing students with instructions in writing vs. verbal delivery may help as well! Checklists are a game changer!

@RutgersAltRoute A3: I like to use preferential seating for my students with ADHD. I also use checklists and collaborate with families to try them at home. I would love to try using a graphic organizer more often for all writing as I see this as a big struggle in my classroom! #AltRtEd #SpEd

Peer collaboration is an important part of active student engagement. During our independent reading time, we often end our sessions with some buddy reading. This allows our students to work on fluency and helps to build their reading stamina.
