There are many reasons why California has lost the confidence of most Americans. The list is long and well reported. Related to voting, let’s start with mail in ballots being mailed to every registered voter. Why would any state do this if they were interested in fair elections? CA sent out 23 million mail in ballots for the primary! Next, let’s talk about transparency in the actual registered voter rolls. Federal prosecutors and the DOJ have accused California of resisting or blocking access to detailed voter registration data for audits to verify NVRA (National Voter Registration Act) compliance. If CA has nothing to hide why don’t they show the entire country? The irony on the unbelievable amount of time it takes CA to run an election in the 21st century is that one of the most often cited reason is that they have too many mail in ballots. 80-90% of voters use mail in ballots. 80-90%! The lack of transparency while others repeat the talking points - “nothing to see here”, “we like being thorough”… only fuels the suspicion that CA elections are not fair, free or in compliance with any reasonable expectations.
