@LuJoBro @sean_gause i'm not defending the unreal engine. my point is that most gamers don't understand what an engine is. it all comes down to a priority of optimization. it just so happens to be that devs who use unreal tend to not care about optimization.

@MikeSkulsky @GenePark my issue is that the difference in difficulty is merely the depth of the health bar and that there are little to no interesting mechanics for engaging the fight beyond the regularcombos u have as kratos. difficulty sliders that only adjust how spongy a boss is bad design imo

@GenePark the hardest difficulty and valkyrie fights in 2018 killed most of my goodwill for those games but I did enjoy Ragnarok enough to finish it. just wish Santa Monica would go back to spectacle and I hope Laufey does just that but i won't hold my breath.

@GenePark i feel like on the surface they're good but the over the shoulder perspective and sponge healthbar difficulty i feel like it all stems from the same core issue in that you don't feel like someone who kills gods anymore, you feel like a dude who can be killed by a skeleton.

the new god of war games don't feel unique or special in any way bc they are solely a repurposed franchise brought back to capture The Last of Us fans into buying another whack version of The Road. personally I yearn for the absurd creativity of poseidon POV eye crush death

my biggest disappointment with the God of War reboot series is that it completely ditches ACTUAL cinematic gameplay. it's my biggest disappointment with AAA gaming today. this kind of sauce is a lost art in blockbusters

@GenePark my biggest gripe is mostly with the ranked God of War list. the reboot GoW games feel like a complete abandonment of everything good about the originals so that they can be faux-netflix series moviegames. I read all of your reviews bc I love games journalism andwas seekingclarity
