@ChrisEyles6@ampalsson@joshsisley@NoContextBrits Well…
Until Pearl Harbour US companies were selling goods to both sides.
The UK finished paying the US for help in WW2 in 2006.
Hitler abandoned the idea of invading the UK after the Battle of Britain.
Russian troops & the Russian winter made the biggest impact on the outcome.
@BJones81533@llllllggggggees@CF_Farrow Latin taught in 40 non selective state schools?
How many state schools are there?
Just over 4,100.
Is that really less than 1%?
Both my children started Latin in Y7. The teacher left & the school couldn’t get a replacement & that was a selective grammar school in the 90s.
@CF_Farrow@cushiebuttercup@CH000926 There has been a shortage of Classics teachers since the late 90s - & Food Tech teachers.
Also - under Gove’s EBacc - there was only one slot for language, as there was only one for Arts - which is why Music is also under stress.
Schools will teach to the exams unfortunately.
@PucatuB@Poppy_yyyyyyyy On the A27 towards Brighton last night someone threw a fagend out of their window. Big display of sparks - but thankfully didn’t carry to the verge.
We really need the scary public info films we had in the 60s back…
@448_Psychosis@tes Pearson Education.
Contract awarded by Tories April 2024?
Do secondary schools take any notice of KS2 SATS results?
I thought it was merely to judge performance in junior schools - so extend the appeals period to the second week of the Autumn Term & let Pearson work all summer.
@SineadWatson91 One year I made a cake - with candles - but the sort that don’t blow out. Took several goes before it was ‘What have you done with these candles?’
Much hilarity ensued. Ended up picking them off the cake and dropping them into a bowl of water…
I’ve always thought whimsy works…
@AriadneTweet@Read_Meee Fgs.
My mother was a health food nut in the 1960s.
I was 8 when my periods started in 1965 - but I was very well nourished, did a lot of physical activity and at that point was the tallest kid in the school (including Y6 boys) but unfortunately that didn’t last.
I’m 5’1”.
That's the 900 year old Bayeux Tapestry just arrived in the Freight Warehouse, ready for transporting to the British Museum for display. I had a sneak preview and it's absolutely magnificent.
