In Welcome to Teaching Multilingual Learners, we explore how feelings and emotions impact students’ learning. Second language acquisition —shaped by motivation, self-confidence, and anxiety—plays a crucial role. When the affective filter is low, students have a greater chance of success in learning.

As our State Senators gather in the Norris Legislative Chamber to convene the 109th Legislative Session, we hope they remember the ideals of the chamber's namesake and put party politics aside to do work that serves Nebraskans.

President Jimmy Carter’s legacy lives on among the stars.
In 1977, the then-president penned this three-paragraph letter that was included with my Golden Records, a message cast into the cosmos.
Even if we live to be 100 years old, our entire lifetime is just a blink of an eye compared to Earth's 4.5 billion years of existence. Why waste our precious time on negativity and hating our fellow travellers who share this brief journey with us? Let's find joy instead.

Teachers, this is your reminder that you deserve to spend this holiday with loved ones, rather than stressing about your plans for next week.
You deserve a break too, you got this.
When I was an ESL teacher in a school where students spoke over 20+ different languages, people often asked me how I taught them all English & how many languages I spoke!
Answer: I used content-based language instruction that included comprehensible input & low-stress output.
No need to know every language! But I did need to know every student. ❤️
