Baba Sayeed Kalandar is believed to be from Baghdad who travelled to Machhal. He fell in love with the Machhal valley and settled at the location of the Dargah. During his lifetime Baba acted as protector of the people travelling to and from #Machhal.

Identifying with the syncretic heritage of Kashmir, The Indian Army joined locals to renovate the shrine of Sayeed Kalandar Sahib Peer Baba located on the scenic mountain road to #Machhal. This shrine built in 1965 holds a valued place in the hearts of the locals.
