@teslayoda@wholemars Yes - this book is a great read! Highly recommended. Learnt so much about semiconductors and it's given me a new perspective and understanding of Terafab. Thanks @teslayoda
SELF-DRIVING’S MEANING WILL FLIP
♦️ Waymo’s Co-CEOs are figuring out how to expand Waymo to freeways - and how to stop hemorrhaging cash. Meanwhile, Elon Musk plans to make driving your own car a novelty within 5–10 years, i.e. AI will drive 90% of miles driven. “Self-driving” will become the rare exception – when a human drives, not the machine.
♦️ Think of the mind-boggling logistics required. The global fleet is 1.8 billion vehicles. Transforming it will save the ~1.2 million lives lost in traffic accidents each year. That requires a lot of chips! And capital. And raw materials.
TESLA’S MOAT= VERTICAL INTEGRATION
♦️ Plans this ambitious make the Terafab a necessity – not a luxury – the terawatt-scale AI chip factory Tesla, xAI, and SpaceX just launched to make this possible. Licensing FSD to OEMs could also play a major role.
♦️ Plans this ambitious would be impossible without scalable vision only FSD architecture and smart end-to-end neural nets.
♦️ Plans this ambitious would be IMPOSSIBLE without Tesla’s vertical integration. Tesla controls its own destiny – a lead measured in billions already spent, factories, supply chains, AI compute, and FSD hardware on every car that rolls off the line.
Tesla Vision allows us to deploy airbags up to 70 milliseconds earlier if your Tesla detects an unavoidable collision
This can be the difference between serious injury & walking away from a crash
❤️🔥HR Update: Tesla is hiring Vehicle Operators in China to accelerate testing towards full-self driving.
Locations include Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Chongqing, Wuhan, etc.
What was eye opening and so informative from 'Chip by Chip' was how important ASML and Zeiss are to TSMC.
Most people think that TSMC's edge is just process tech or capital, but it's this insanely tight, decades long relationship with ASML and Zeiss - especially the optics and lithograph stack - that gives TSMC the edge.
You can't create this sort of relationship overnight. It takes years to develop. TSMC are so far ahead of the game!! A real credit to Morris Chang and his successors. It's inspirational.
Another thing important take away from this book is just how humble TSMC is. TSMC's don't boast or write their own myths. TSMC lets results (e.g. yields, process leadership, customer trust) do the talking instead of aggressive marketing or hype. That is profound in this day and age.
Thanks to your book, 'Chip by Chip - From TSMC to Terafab', I have learnt so much @teslayoda about TSMC. Thank you!
Three years since the first flight of Starship, the next generation is here. New ship. New booster. New engines. New pad and new test site. SpaceX engineers are working to solve one of the most difficult engineering challenges in history: developing a fully, rapidly reusable rocket
@MYOB I'm disappointed with how my subscription cancellation has been handled.
I requested cancellation weeks ago, followed up with multiple emails, and even received your confirmation that it was cancelled.
Unfortunately, another direct debit has just been taken and the subscription remains active.
Could you please assist urgently by cancelling it immediately, refunding the unauthorised payment, and confirming it's been actioned?
Thank you.

@GrindeOptions Oh yes! Just getting started now - can't wait to see how the SpaceX IPO goes and then the merger with $TSLA. Very exciting days ahead of all of us.
