@Belisarius532@TheDataHubX First, read the numbers. Women are much less likely to commit suicide than men in all regards. So when the Nordics are leading, it’s exactly a sign of more equality than elsewhere. (Maybe because women get the same work/career stressors as men?)
@Belisarius532@TheDataHubX You should check the authenticity first. The actual rate for Iceland is 14.4 for men and 9.3 for women (WHO, 2021). In 2023, it was 31 Icelandic men and 16 women in real figures. And in all other four Nordic countries, male rates were more than twice the female rates.
@SeeRacists It’s reported that: 1. His wife/their mother died in June. 2. His company was dissolved two weeks ago. 3. He dealt with conspiracy theories. Sounds like her death triggered a depression, causing his life to fall apart and finally delusions.
@SeeRacists Likely mental illness and very possibly adverse effects of medication. Drugs (cocaine) is also a possible candidate, but he’s a bit too old for the usual drug abusing crowd.
@fasc1nate He was more interesting before he got famous. Now every second Danish movie uses him. The problem is that Danish movie producers have this habit of featuring a small number of “stars”, and most of them play the same character every time.
@officialmrsavvy I think he’s ridiculous and embarrassing in a way that’s not funny. He uses simple stereotypes at the expense of others. I can’t fathom why sexual hints and a fake Russian accent is enough to make people laugh? And why pick at Kazakhstan?
Some melodies aren’t just meant to be heard, they can be experienced visually, too. Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” offers a captivating blend of music and visual beauty.
@Rainmaker1973 Although the persecution during the red scare was unfair, his speech is imbalanced and clearly has a communist tinge. He speaks about mass humanism, but doesn’t mention freedom even once. No individualism. In 1942, he defended the Stalinist purges.
@notcapnamerica Despicably bad police work. They are actually interrogating her without telling her. Then they arrest her with the belittling words: “Do you have shoes?”
The US is developing into a police state, but unlike more efficient totalitarian states, US police are lowly educated.
@theiaincameron A more obvious explanation is that the first part means spear (as in Old High German gēr). That seems more likely, since gēr is used extensively in names: Gerhard/Garrett, Gerald (from Gerwald), Gary or Garrick (gēr-rīk), and actually even German (spear-man) is a name too.
