This guy grew up in a house with no running water or electricity and years later, he sold his app for $19 BILLION.
His name is Jan Koum, born in 1976 in Ukraine.
At 16, he moved to California with his mother. They had nothing and were living on food stamps while he worked as a janitor at a local grocey store to help get by.
He became obsessed with programming, teaching himself through used books and manuals. He later enrolled at San Jose State University and joined a hacker group called w00w00. Eventually got a job in security testing at Ernst & Young, where he met Brian Acton, his future co-founder.
He dropped out of college and spent 9 years working as an engineer at Yahoo.
In 2009, he applied to Facebook. But got rejected.
A few months later, he bought an iPhone. Seeing the App Store gave him an idea - "a simple app that showed your status so friends knew what you were up to."
That idea became WhatsApp.
He built it with Acton under one core principle: No ads. No games. No gimmicks. Just a simple messaging app that worked.
In 2014, Facebook, the same company that rejected him, bought WhatsApp for $19 billion.
@LadyofCrypto1 They likely used MM for mass price manipulation, driving the price down as they have the capital, liquidating others, and buying at a bargain rate
@LadyofCrypto1 Trump can bitch slap each one of its voters and voters will say it was their faces fault for running into Trump’s hand. This post proves that.
@LadyofCrypto1 It’s no bull market right now, we’re only fooling ourselves if we call it that. It’s been a bear market since the day Trump got inaugurated. The whole thing since then has felt like a massive rug pull, which came after a massive liquidity drain via his meme coin.
@LadyofCrypto1 I wish #Trump would stop getting us #rekt. I’ve not seen my portfolio go this bad even at the depths of the last bear market. Before he was inaugurated it was the strongest it had ever been.
Donald Trump has won the election, and Republicans are now comfortable openly admitting that Project 2025 was the plan all along.
