@smerconish@taddevine Heard the interview. Sounds like exactly what’s wrong with politics. He created a perception for Mr Sanders brilliantly that socialism was patriotic and good for our country. Entire campaign built effectively on lies.
Forgive me for my lack of understanding but why is it Congress’ responsibility to investigate the Epstein case. Seems like a judicial role. Also- seems like there would be plenty of victims to point to exactly what went on and name names.
Father’s Day Meditation (repost)
Father’s Day always makes me stop and think about the men who shape our lives in ways that don’t always get noticed. In a culture that often treats fatherhood like an optional accessory, I want to say something simple and true: fatherhood is a calling — a real, God‑given vocation.
From the very beginning of Scripture, God reveals Himself as Father. When a man becomes a father — biologically, through adoption, or through the quiet, steady work of spiritual fatherhood, he enters into something sacred. He becomes a living reminder of God’s own heart.
Fatherhood is about more than providing, it is about being present. It is about teaching character, demonstrating faith, loving your family well, and setting an example worth following.
I’ve often said there is no job more important than parenting. This Father’s Day, I challenge every father to step up, lean in, and embrace that calling with renewed purpose. Your children do not need a perfect father. They need a present one.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads who are showing up every day, making a difference for the next generation.
Today the Catholic Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
It was great to see US Bishops consecrate our Nation to the Most Sacred Heart as we celebrate America’s 250th year.
I am proud to display this beautiful piece in the Governor’s Mansion as a reminder of Christ’s mercy and infinite love.
This is one of the most impactful speeches delivered by the Pope.
He just received a 7-minute standing ovation for affirming the dignity of human life, from the moment of conception to natural death, in front of the Spanish Parliament
"The defense of human life is neither a partisan issue nor a confessional interest: it is a goal of civilization."
"Can a community that casts into the shadows the unborn child, the elderly, the sick, those who suffer in silence, or those who depend entirely on the care of others be called fully just?"
Watch.
Three cheers for Pope Leo's comments regarding the Christian foundations of Europe and the defense of the unborn. Echoing the sentiments of Pope Benedict XVI, Leo reminded his audience that the essential structures of European society and Europe's commitment to human rights are unthinkable apart from Christianity. And speaking before a hard-left Spanish Parliament, the Pope presented an admirably consistent ethic of life, defending migrants, to be sure, but also insisting that no society which "casts into the shadows" the unborn can be called truly just. With bracing clarity, he insisted, "Every human life must be recognized and safeguarded from conception to its natural end, in every circumstance of its existence." And he concluded that "the moral greatness of a nation" is manifested in this principle. That he has been received so warmly in Spain I take to be an encouraging sign that the people of that country, especially the youth, have finally had it with a soul-flattening secularist ideology.
THE MOST DANGEROUS PRAYER YOU WILL EVER PRAY
Jesus Himself taught this prayer.
Millions recite it every day.
Few realize what they are actually asking for.
“Our Father, who art in heaven...”
The moment you say those words, you are calling the Creator of the universe your Father.
“Thy Kingdom come.”
You are asking God to establish His reign in your life, even if it means removing the things that keep you from Him.
“Thy will be done.”
Not my plans.
Not my ambitions.
Not my desires.
His will.
Even when it is difficult.
“Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
These may be the most challenging words in the entire prayer.
We ask God to forgive us in the same measure that we forgive others.
“Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
Because the battle for the soul is real.
And no one reaches Heaven alone.
The Our Father is not merely a prayer.
It is a surrender.
It is a declaration of trust.
It is a roadmap to holiness given by Christ Himself.
The next time you pray it, do not rush.
Pray every word as if you mean it.
Because Jesus did not teach us empty words.
He taught us how to speak to God.
AMEN 🙏
