~ Activists, the diaspora and opposition politicians.

♦️ While alerting the UN, the "international community" about the impending disaster is good, you have seen how tepid the response was for your tireless call for the last three years. Hence, re-focus and redirect your efforts in organizing and assisting the relief efforts with all resources you can afford, including b being physically present with those, who need your help in #Tigray.

~ Though it feels good to mock, insult and belittle Ethiopian government, Tigray Interim Administration, Notable Ethiopians, media personalities or many of those who we feel have done the people wrong (trust me I have done it myself and it does feel good) it has 0 value in helping those in dire need. For #Tigray It is much more beneficial to make less enemies and earn more friends (of course with some caveat)

~ Remember that activism has goals to reach. It can't be perpetual. If it becomes perpetual, it won't be activism, but a business. When it becomes a business, it would stop being about the people, but about the "activists".

This way, we can pull it together and we can avoid another tragedy.

Despite the Tigray war’s conclusion in November 2022, the humanitarian crisis persists as displaced families disperse across Ethiopia. A stark reality unfolds on #Addis_Ababa’s bustling streets where growing numbers of Tigrayan children seek refuge, driven by conflict and poverty.

Nine-year-old Wegen fled eastern Tigray when violence erupted in 2020, hindering his education. He traverses 10 kilometers daily, selling items to aid his financially constrained family. Similarly, seven-year-old Bri’s family fled southern Tigray when drought ravaged 20% of the region’s farmland. The boys sell goods so parents can hawk wares, yearning to resume their disrupted schooling.

Fourteen-year-old Bisrat endured a grueling 1,000 kilometer exodus from southern Tigray after her village’s ruthless invasion, struggling to reconcile horrendous memories. Compelled to prematurely discontinue 4th grade, Bisrat sells items with a displaced friend to assist her family, nurturing aspirations to resume learning and epitomizing migrant resilience.

Facing tenure insecurity and devoid of a support network, the displaced Tigrayan children epitomize the human toll inflicted by the conflict. Their childhoods, meant for schoolyard games and acquiring classroom knowledge, are now consumed with securing their families’ survival.
