@ChasingWConnor@JordanHallWX If the fire dept is blocking traffic, it is most likely for a legitimate reason. Granted, I work in a large city but if I instruct my driver 2 block off lanes of travel, it is 4 OUR safety so we can safely work an accident scene. When people go around us, it can cost us our lives
@JasonCooleyWX@Becca_Furnish Although Im not a volunteer working out in the middle of Ks and Ive never punched a car, I can say that I feel way safer inside of a house fire than I do working a car accident surrounded by distracted idiots behind the wheel. Ive wanted to punch cars many times in my career
@aaronjayjack I compare it to the Fire Service. When you are a Lieutenant or Captain & get your first first-on fire & must transmit a size-up over the radio. Some are very calm & level headed, some transmit the size-up with such adrenaline that you cant even understand what they are saying
@wxsarahk@Becca_Furnish I learned to chase in a high end off road vehicle that could manage the sloppy side roads. This allowed me to not get stuck behind all the people chasing on the main roads. It worked most of the time. Every now and then a road would randomly end that showed to go through.
@NotChilledOut@baugh_elliot Who is oppressing women from storm chasing? Ive been chasing 23 years and have never seen or heard any women getting hate for wanting to chase. In fact, Ive taken many females on storm chases over the years, including a very well known TV meteorologist.
@AdamLucioWX@StrmchsrHunterF This is why I stopped chasing after 23 years. People with absolutely no common sense, no situational awareness, no sense of safety, and no clue that they are putting lives at risk.
@ben_williams_wx@JordanHallWX As someone who started chasing in 2001, Ive seen the entire life cycle of storm chasing. 99% of the people out there chasing need to stay home and leave it to the people with vast experience and exceptional intuition.
@Tornado_Steejo@JordanHallWX I chased for 25 years. It has been like this for at least 10 years. Youngster out there with no experience or intuition when it comes to storm behavior or scene safety...horrible driving, everyone looking at the sky or their phone. I golf as a hobby now...I sure do miss chasing.
@oklahomachaser@stormchase4life We primarily stuck to the back roads and zig zagged all the way to the SW side of OKC. We hopped on 44 for a short bit but I learned a long time ago to stay off of I44. It burned me exactly once before I knew there were limited exits so I avoid it!
