The Odyssey itself is constantly presenting us with different scenes of hospitality, how host and guest treat one other, good & bad. This is a major image & through-line of the work. The suitors must be slain because they have totally violated hospitality and abused their hosts.
Holy shit. I thought Nolan didn’t understand xenia, the Greek concept of hospitality or guest-right. He focuses entirely on the host’s role while neglecting the role of the guest.
But Ben Shapiro just has no clue. The law of hospitality is FUNDAMENTAL to Greek myth and culture.
This is grade school shit. You can hardly study Greek mythology without running into important stories about the law of hospitality being broken, and the grave consequences that follow (divine judgment).
Taken together, the defining attributes of Achilles, Odysseus, and Aeneas represent the ideal Western man:
Achilles: Skill and courage.
Odysseus: Intelligence and determination.
Aeneas: Duty and piety.
I'm not for it, but I am not a fan of the house of Windsor. Since King Alfred's remains have been discovered, can we not determine who his descendants are and choose one of them, instead?
Again - the last time Congress successfully passed a full, annual budget on time for the next fiscal year was 1997. A lot of people on this platform weren't even alive. Congress cannot fulfill its core obligation - but it can work up another amnesty.
@executejudges@JoelWBerry Berry:
“These early church fathers, with whom I completely disagree with on the Eucharist, other sacraments, and church hierarchy, among other topics, can be radically misinterpreted to confirm my priors about Israel. Therefore, I’m the one truly following Christian tradition.”
In what world are Greeks remotely close to being black lmao
Just say you want them to be black, like you want everything to be black, because they have no culturally impactful stories and you need to cannibalize everything so they don't feel inadequate
