We’ve got our guy
Excited to announce Waleed Farid as the new @nyumenshoops head coach.
Farid, a Queens native, brings a wealth of coaching experience to NYU, most recently spending the last four seasons leading the program at Ithaca College.
Welcome to the NYU family, Waleed!
Lastly, I asked for its overall summary of the game based on the metrics we calculated. Pretty generic and vanilla content but spot on for the analysis of the actual game I watched
@JohnCarrier42 This looks great coach!
One idea to get inspiration for other situations is to use the Synergy Play Type Categories.
Explained here. https://t.co/ohu0oe7NxM
Playing off the catch to me is equivalent to the Spotup Play Type.
Working 1on1 with a player for 15 min before practice was something I always loved doing.
These “Vitamins” sessions took on several formats.
This week, I want to share the 9 templates I used to organize these sessions.
First up- Vitamins Session Template 1: Add A Move
Use this template to add to a player’s individual offensive package. Ex: I am using the Hesitate and Go dribble move here.
Outcomes:
- Get comfortable with the footwork and rhythm of the move
- Understand when and why to use that move
- Develop go-to and counter move reads
@coachpost_chs@PickAndPopNet 2) Now let’s say next 3 possessions are A miss, B TO, A miss- now there are 3 points in the bank for B’s next possession. B hits a 3, B leads 9-0
Variations on scoring I’ve seen:
- +2 in the bank for TOs, +1 for misses
- +1 for 2pt FG miss, +2 for 3Pt miss
Hope this helps
@coachpost_chs@PickAndPopNet 1) Team A & B play a 3 min game. A starts with the ball, misses a 3 on their first possession. There is now 1 point in the bank. B comes down & scores a layup. B gets 2 pts for layup + 1 point in the bank. Team B leads 3-0. Now 0 points in the bank until next miss or turnover.
