As Seoul Semiconductor weighs where in India to build its optoelectronics line, a thought, wherever the search stands. The best of Korea deserves to meet the best of India, in the one city built for work this exacting. Hyderabad.
Because this decision turns on one thing. You are not shipping wafers by the tonne, you are shipping light. LEDs, laser diodes, UV and IR emitters, small enough to sit on a fingertip and valuable enough that they only ever travel by air. So landlocked stops meaning anything.
Consider the proof already here. A third of the world's vaccines, more than 11 billion doses a year, are made in Hyderabad and flown to over 140 countries in unbroken cold chain. A city that can fly out the most fragile cargo humanity makes will not lose sleep over a tray of LEDs.
And chipmaking is the most complex thing humanity has ever learned to manufacture, which makes the real question simple. Where do the people who design this silicon already live? Here.
Qualcomm, AMD, Intel, Micron, NXP, Microchip and Allegro all run design centres in Hyderabad. Behind them, 27 Telangana institutions feed the national semiconductor talent mission, from IIT Hyderabad and IIIT Hyderabad to NIT Warangal and BITS, alongside a standing pool of some 9,300 chip professionals that NITI Aayog's roadmap calls a foundation for India's chip future. This line would not import its engineers, it would share a city with them.
And that talent already has a home waiting. A dedicated electronics zone rising inside Bharat Future City, plug and play space, and the round the clock power a precision line cannot afford to lose, from a state that turned a power deficit into a surplus. Every clearance for a project this size is guaranteed within 15 days by law, or it is deemed approved. Foxconn builds and exports from Hyderabad today.
Whatever the world needs made, the intent and the talent to make it are already here.
And you would not be a stranger. When Hyundai wanted engineering minds in India, it built one of its overseas R&D centres in Hyderabad. Korea and this city keep drawing closer, a festival celebrating Telangana and Korea comes to Hyderabad this October, and Korea will have its own pavilion at SEMICON India in September. The welcome is real, and only warming.
Seoul Semiconductor, you have spent thirty years teaching light to do the impossible. Hyderabad would be glad to help you send it to the world. Whenever you feel the moment is right, we are just a conversation away, always willing, and set above all on making you feel at home here. If it suits you, let us begin where Korea already will be, at SEMICON India in September.

Telangana strengthens its oil palm ecosystem with a major boost to agriculture.
Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, along with Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, inaugurated Godrej's ₹300 crore Integrated Palm Oil Industry at Konijerla, Khammam.
Key highlights:
• ₹300 crore integrated facility across ~113 acres
• Includes R&D, seed genetics, seed gardens, nurseries, milling & refining
• Govt subsidy of ₹4,000–₹45,000/acre for oil palm cultivation
• FFB prices have increased from ~₹12,500/tonne (2023) to ~₹23,000/tonne
• India consumes ~25 lakh MT of palm oil but produces only ~12 lakh MT, creating a major import gap
• India has potential for ~70 lakh acres of oil palm cultivation; only ~15 lakh acres are currently under cultivation
• Telangana's oil palm cultivation has expanded to nearly 3 lakh acres
• Konijerla is envisioned as a future hub for quality oil palm seed production, reducing dependence on imports from Malaysia & Indonesia
• The project is expected to boost farmer incomes, attract ancillary industries, and strengthen Khammam as an agro-industrial hub
The government also assured infrastructure support, including road connectivity, to accelerate industrial growth and promote value-added agriculture.

Startups win when ideas become hardware that proves itself in real conditions. Today's mission is a testament to that.
Congratulations to Skyroot Aerospace on the successful launch of Vikram-1, and to Cosmoserve Space on the successful flight of its EMBRACE payload aboard the mission. Together, they demonstrate that space-qualified technologies can be designed, built, and flown from India through engineering excellence and manufacturing discipline.
Every successful mission gives greater confidence to founders building ambitious hardware. It shows that Indian innovation is not just participating in the global space economy, but earning its place through execution.
Here's to many more missions, breakthrough technologies, and startups building the future from India.

Telangana has arrived. In orbit. And we are only getting started! 🚀
This morning, Vikram-1, India's first privately developed orbital rocket, rose from the pad and carried its payloads into space. The mission had a name chosen long before anyone knew it would come true. Aagaman. The arrival. Rarely has a word held so much.
It was dreamed, designed and built by @SkyrootA, a company that calls Hyderabad home, founded by two young engineers who walked out of @isro to build what the world insisted India's private sector never could. Nearly 3,000 days of work. Around 1,000 people. More than 400 suppliers. One refusal to accept that this could not be done here.
With this flight, India joins the United States and China as one of only three nations on Earth whose private industry can carry a rocket to orbit.
To @PawanKChandana, to @bharathdaka, and to every engineer, technician and dreamer at @SkyrootA: today you turned the hopes of a billion Indians into fire and flight. You did not simply reach orbit. You carried a nation with you.
And to every founder building in spacetech, in deeptech, on the hardest and loneliest frontiers of engineering: come what may, you carry the pride and the promise of India on your shoulders. When you rise, we all rise.
You are not only building companies… You are building the country. You are our pride!
This is the Hyderabad the world is about to know. Not a city measured against others in its own country, but one that takes its place among the great cities of the world. A place where the future is not imported. It is built here!

A historic day for India. A proud moment for Hyderabad. 🚀
Heartiest congratulations to Team @SkyrootA on the successful Vikram-1 Test Flight – Mission Aagaman.
Seeing a Hyderabad startup lead India's first private-sector orbital launch fills every Indian with pride. This remarkable achievement reflects the spirit of innovation, perseverance, and excellence that defines our nation.
Wishing Team Skyroot many more milestones as they continue to make India proud on the global space stage. 🇮🇳

11:30 AM. Sriharikota. All eyes on the pad.
Skyroot Aerospace's Vikram-1 is about to attempt something no private Indian company has ever done — carry a payload into orbit on a rocket it built entirely on its own, from Hyderabad.
Eight years of work. Nearly 1,000 people. Over 400 suppliers. Every stage of this four-stage rocket engineered and integrated right here, at Skyroot's own campus.
The Telangana government flagged off this rocket's journey to the launch site earlier this year, backing it as part of the state's push to become a global aerospace hub — a state that, per Central Government data, recorded the highest engineering export growth in the country: 117.9% between 2023-24 and 2024-25.
Wishing Team Skyroot a historic flight today. This is what a homegrown startup, backed by the right ecosystem, can build.
