For indies working in Unreal, is it better to just do the majority of asset building there? I've been replacing nearly all the pieces of assets I prep in Blender then move to Unreal because they don't take materials well, and I can't 'fix' them.
Early blockout of a crystal basin for Seed of Illyria. Hex pavement, glowing seams, a landmark formation on the horizon. Fellow devs: does the field read as natural mineral to you, or too tiled? What would you add to break up the grid?

Deeper in the basin, crystal spires that have stood silent for thousands of years start to hum as the twins draw near. There's no wind out here. It's resonance. Lay a hand on one and it answers.

@thomasbrushdev Or how about we don't need software because our assistance has the software on its vm. It just shows you what it's done and you approve or tell it to make changes. π΅βπ«
The twins kick their boots off. The salt flat isn't dead rock. Every footstep wakes a ring of light in the crust, spreading like ripples on still water. A world that's been holding its breath.

Away from the screens yesterday, ended up sketching a few assets and working on optional side quests. Last night some of those went in interesting and unexpected directions. Some added depth, some are humorous and an unexpectedly serious one too. Added good variety

No, this isn't the new Taylor Swift album cover. I've cleaned-up this remarkable colour photo, taken 113 years ago in August 1913, a year before the First World War. It is a portrait of 16-year-old Christina Bevan at Durdle Door in Lulworth, Dorset. It was taken by Lt-Colonel Mervyn OβGorman using an early colour glass-plate process and isn't colourised.
This was one of the first Autochromes I cleaned up for Twitter and I share it again with you because it is such a beautiful image π
@Giulio6686 Not rewarding my curiosity feels like a let down. Unless the game is clear from the beginning, before I even guy it, that it isn't that type of game.
Got feedback that my hut shot was too dark. Kept it. Illyria is meant to feel shaded: thick canopy, dappled light, a salvaged roof catching the sun while everything under it stays dim. Still learning when to let the dark do the work.

Getting the lighting right on something big. Walls and roof went in, lights came down, and it finally started to feel like a place. Somebody has to bring this back to life.
