@StevenBrust Moving is generally at best a purgatorial process.
My Dad’s quote comes back to me every time - “Three moves are as good as a fire.”
I hope it’s as swift and painless as possible and that whatever coin they are paid in that your movers are patient, competent, and careful.
@admiralrohan@Theholisticpsyc Steps towards being able to live better might include considering:
- Who/what taught you not to trust yourself?
- If in truth you can trust yourself how can you build connections to a more true view of the world?
@admiralrohan@Theholisticpsyc Sadly, this is not a solution, this describes a desirable future state.
“Just trust more”, “Just get comfortable” isn’t a solution because if just willing to be different was sufficient then most would already have. If it starts “Just” (or could) it probably isn’t a solution.
@StevenBrust@Alierajean Next question, which came first and was anything predictive?
I have no kids, but live with pets named Lady Violence and Pandemonium.

@adhdjesse@andrewe@HowtoADHD Absolutely agree. I’m trying to add novelty through making a new goal each time I re-plan but I use the same process to plan.
So I keep some things the same: write the goal in the same place, I re-plan every Wednesday, keep my progress chart in the same document with the goals..
@HowtoADHD - It reinforces sustainable behaviour and expectation setting (with yourself and others)
- it’s deliberately minimal so it’s easily adaptable to a wide variety of contexts, constraints and goals
I’m glad to go explain further to anyone, any time.
@HowtoADHD Depends what you call an organizational system.
I use Scrum, which is a framework most commonly used in Technology verticals like Software Development.
After almost a year I can say it’s the most effective approach I’ve ever used. I believe because of its cyclic nature. /2
@HowtoADHD It also works especially well for me because I’m intimately familiar with applying it in a variety of contexts.
TLDR:
- daily cycles within weekly give a large ‘surface area’ for restarting
- scales easily up or down to fit within your capacity with executive function

@StevenBrust +1 and I work in tech, so let me tell you a secret - if you can’t find the way then the problem is *us* not you.
Also, even worse - not *letting* me squelch the notification until I sign up for a premium service.
@StevenBrust@NighttfallNF Miracle Max: "It only so happens your friend here is only mostly dead. There's a big difference between all dead and mostly dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive. All dead, well there's only one thing you can do... Go through his pockets and look for loose change!"
@Theholisticpsyc It doesn’t fix a malicious actor, or a hidden agenda but it can at least find places where we are in violent agreement (thinking we disagree when we actually agree but describe it differently”
@Theholisticpsyc If I get stuck in fundamental communication with someone I try to get them to confirm my understanding of their issue - What I’m hearing is that you’re most concerned about…”
If we can establish what we each care about is being heard then it’s usually a question of trade-offs.
