@stewdean @VoxelPrismatic@AgingWheels In Ontario, nuclear has been historically very inexpensive. Yes the plants are capital intensive, but the cost of the electricity for the life of the plant is very low. Our problem is we forgot how to build them.
@deandraswriting@lynnnoton I’ve used both the iPad and kindle for reading - if you are a heavy reader, you may find the weight of the iPad more than you were expecting.
@EvEvangelist I had a similar thought. Without those lease cars, the suggested option to buy a used car would not exist. Cars average well more than ten years in life, just because they change hands, doesn’t mean waste. We can all thank the well-off for paying for the depreciation
@ajpbradley@wrenching_wench On an old board like this, I’ve had success just reflowing the joints. I hit each one with the iron and a small dab of new flux core solder to get it liquid and then just cool again. Fixed a DRL relay and a dash power supply this way.
@speirin @gwestr Converting office space to residential is prohibitively expensive. The need for the plumbing, ventilation, and power rework, along with all the code and architectural upgrades makes it more attractive to just go build new somewhere else with the money.
