@mrallanmaths y-b=m(x-a)... all just a transformation of the line y=x. The m changes the gradient while a and b translate it from going through (0,0) to going through any point of your choosing (a,b). b is the vertical shift so goes with the y and a shifts horizontally so goes with the x...?
@mrshawthorne7 Slightly off topic (apologies) but how do people keep them clean? After a couple of terms we can't get them clean enough to use. Really puts staff off.
@Whitehughes @ShakinthatChalk I like that each line is the easiest way of visualising all the possible x,y pairs of solutions to those equations, and that the intersection is the single pair of values which are solutions to both.
