@TBoywonder https://t.co/Jphxw6FyvB It's pretty complicated why this happened. Basically, some early 20th century textbooks phrased an order of operations rule poorly, and some teachers took it as gospel, so now calculator manufacturers are under pressure to conform to the mistake.

@AlexRoseGames@cryptoLINDA@chaser_kang@TwitterMoments What's interesting is that Texas Instruments calculators originally (back in the early nineties) would've given the answer 1. So do Sharp calculators. The reason TI now give the answer 16 is probably due to pressure from teachers, rather than thinking 16 is correct.
