What we are witnessing in Georgia is a coordinated attack on Black voting power that rivals the backlash of post-Reconstruction America.

The Voting Rights Act was never just about Black candidates getting elected. It was about protecting the ability of Black voters to elect candidates of their choice. Republicans know that and they are trying to destroy it anyway.

Redrawing maps. Weakening protections. Restructuring elections. They want Black people visible in democracy, but powerless within it.

This is our generation’s civil rights movement. We do not bend to authoritarianism. We organize. We fight. And we refuse to surrender our democracy to people terrified of Black political power.
