Maryland and D.C.-area illegal migrant activist groups are advising their comrades and allies against using whistles because they may contribute to racist noise pollution and trigger trauma responses in people of color.
They also say the whistles center white people and make them feel like heroes. They say the whistle should be banned from ICE watch "rapid response" networks.
@Sorenthek ‘AI ‘saved me a few grand in drafting legal paperwork for a real estate transaction. There are plenty of commercially useful functions LLM’s can offer at a legitimate discount.
If you look closer at the admin’s actions around these protests over the last year they have been actively targeting the money behind these groups.
The most recent protests have actually been very small compared to what we saw in 2020, this is largely due to the destruction of funding sources.
Every time a new protest/riot is spun-up money has to move. When money is moved it can be tracked and the accounts associated with the funds are now burned. There is not an unlimited arsenal of funds and accounts with which to fund these actions and each time new accounts are used the remaining supply is diminished.
Mob actions in January is not ideal for those funding them, it’s a sign of strain in their systems. It’s much easier to organize and cheaper to fund such things in the summer months when you can take advantage of free labor to supplement the paid actors in these protest events. The cling-ons don’t show up when it’s cold and wet outside.
This looks like a forced acceleration of enemy action, or maybe enemy reaction, to the admin’s countermeasures. Which is all to say, things are being done, it’s just not blatantly visible on the evening news.
@Txp_RBI_Xctuxl@unusual_whales Minimum wage in 2006 was $5.15 /hour, about $825 a month. My rent was half my monthly income and I had roommates….and this was in Alabama.
