Tonight on our @cbcsports swimming recap show I mistakenly said Summer McIntosh broke the world record by three minutes.

@b_maclean quickly corrected me and said three seconds.

Upon reflection — I stand by the three minutes because it’s basically the same. Incredible.

@MichaelKJames_ @Devin_Heroux Of course she CAN sprint re her multiple 53low legs. She's just not ready to go 52low yet. Penny right call assuming she was healthy after prelim leg. No doubt she could have approached 52 mid with that lead from Maggie & medal on the line, fierce anchor many times.

@CanMNTonly @Devin_Heroux Yes either Penny was not 100% after the prelim swim, or the coaches were dream-chasing a bit a 5th Summer medal.. if the latter, wrong choice, Penny legit near best form with her 52.9 prelim effort. No doubt her experience & clutch relay grit would have her 52 mid & in the mix.

@BrentStaeben @Devin_Heroux He's the best starter on the team and fastest 100, best choice to lead and put them 'in the race' first 200. Finlay was ok this morning for him but 49 puts them way behind next 3 legs. Finlay tonight way better in 3rd. They got best order correct.

@mish17 @Marco_3 @Devin_Heroux Nope, Summer needed to be hidden a bit in the middle legs as despite her immense talents mid distance, she's been a bit inconsistent on the 100 Free legs. Maggie was best leadoff choice and cemented that with a lifetime best time. Penny closer. Summer & Tayler best middles.

@Marco_3 @PierTwentySix @Devin_Heroux Wrong sorry. Maggie was great leadoff choice with her start and consistency. She actually went a best time and was faster than Penny. Penny is a great racer and showed with passing the Swedes. But she would not have got the 'lead' you are speaking of.
