Erdoğan is a wannabe emperor who dreams of resurrecting the Ottoman Empire.
This Trojan horse in NATO is a threat to the entire eastern Mediterranean.
My analysis on Greece’s @AntennaNews 🇬🇷🇮🇱
@eucopresident@EUCouncil@EmmanuelMacron Spot the occupier.
A Coalition of the “Willing”
Willing to embrace another aggressor,
and willing to ignore another occupied country.
No shame.
You have thousands of mosques in Constantinople. Hagia Sophia is an Orthodox Christian Church and it must be given back to the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. Your jihadist mentality is dangerous
Are we really going to allow Turkey under @RTErdogan to get access to F-35s when Erdogan is on the record saying “Hamas is not a terrorist organization”?
Let’s all take a moment to remember why Turkey is sanctioned under the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) and why we originally barred Turkey from purchasing the F-35.
This was punishment for Turkey buying a RUSSIAN air defense system, the S-400. Our military won’t allow for the F-35 to fly in the same sky as Russian radar systems.
Section 1241 of the FY2021 NDAA (which codified the ban) allows the President to terminate the sanctions by submitting a certification to Congress that Turkey no longer possesses the S-400. CAATSA also gives the President waiver authority on national security grounds, but that would trigger a congressional review period (which Congress will certainly block).
Turkey still possesses the S-400s, and even though Erdogan is reportedly asking to sell the systems, the sale contract between Turkey and Russia contains a requirement for Russian consent. Putin will not agree to a sale designed to ease friction between the US and Turkey (the worst NATO member state).
Secretary of State Marco Rubio @SecRubio has not technically designated Turkey as a State Sponsor of Terrorism under the Export Control Reform Act, but he should. Additionally, Turkey should be removed from NATO over their support of Hamas.
On October 25, 2023, speaking to his AK Party parliamentary group in Ankara, Erdogan said, “Hamas is not a terrorist organization, it is a liberation group, mujahideen waging a battle to protect its lands and people.”
He added that Israel and the West could view Hamas as terrorists, but “Turkey does not owe you anything”.
Erdogan has openly and repeatedly hosted senior Hamas leadership, including Ismail Haniyeh in Istanbul in December 2019 and August 2020. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also met Hamas political leaders in Istanbul as recently as October 2024.
OFAC has designated several Turkey-based terrorist actors and Turkish companies: @SecScottBessent
1. Istanbul-based Redin Exchange, designated in 2019, reportedly helped move tens of millions to Hamas, including a $10 million transfer to the Qassam Brigades in March 2019 and $4 million from the IRGC-Qods Force in July 2018.

2. In May 2022, @USTreasury sanctioned Trend GYO, a Turkish real estate investment firm as part of a covert investment portfolio used to fund Hamas.
In October 2023, AFTER October 7, the U.S. government placed new sanctions on specific shareholders and board members associated with the company.

3. In October 2024, Treasury designated Hamid al-Ahmar, a Yemeni national residing in Istanbul who holds a Turkish identification number and is the chairman of a Hamas sham charity.
Turkey should NEVER be allowed to get access to the F-35s. @POTUS@PeteHegseth@SecRubio
The Cyprus issue is not a dispute.
It is a straightforward case of invasion, illegal occupation, and unpunished aggression.
Turkey’s 1974 aggression seized 37% of sovereign Cyprus and has gone unpunished for 52 years.
You do not solve an act of aggression by negotiating and rewarding the aggressor.
It is time to remove Turkish occupation forces from EU soil and hold Turkey accountable.
Aggression must fail.

Greek MEP: ‘Pretending Turkey is still a reliable ally is not a strategy. It is dangerous self-delusion.’
Afroditi Latinopoulou is right. As we have long warned, Erdogan wants to restore the Ottoman caliphate. He is now attempting to seize territory in Syria, and Syria is not the only nation in his sights. Why is Turkey still in NATO? Why is Trump pretending that he is a trustworthy ally?

The EU’s decline is no longer a warning. It has become policy.
It is managed through the language of pragmatism: accommodating authoritarian power, excusing illegal occupation, normalising threats against its own member states, and recasting appeasement as strategic necessity.
What was once a Union of democratic standards has become a system of strategic excuses, where appeasement is institutionalised and degradation is sold as responsible diplomacy.
As Trump moves closer to reshaping US policy toward Turkey, Greece, Cyprus and Israel are tightening their strategic coordination. The trilateral working dinner in Washington focused on security and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.

On 8 June 1995, the Turkish Parliament adopted a resolution authorising the Turkish government to declare war (casus belli) (authorising it to use military means against Greece), should Greece decide to exercise a legal right under international law and extend its territorial waters in the Aegean to the international standard of 12nm.
That is not a “historic dispute”. It is a standing threat of war against Greece over a legal sovereign right, in violation of the UN Charter.
The right to extend territorial waters to up to 12 nautical miles is a sovereign right which can be unilaterally exercised, and cannot be disputed by third countries.
Why have Greek reporters never had the guts to confront EU leaders the same way, live on camera, how they keep their self-respect when they call Turkey a “key EU partner” while it occupies EU territory and threatens Greece with war?
👇🔥
North Europeans who spent years excusing and downplaying Turkish revisionism, occupation, and provocations against Greece and Cyprus are now issuing “firm warnings” to Trump over Greenland.
Funny how principles find their spine only when the threat points north.
Your naive silence helped normalise territorial revisionism.
Now it is coming back to bite you.
Turkey, who sent a high-level delegation to pay respects at Ali Khamenei’s funeral in Iran yesterday is hosting the NATO Summit today.
Make it make sense.
I continue to strongly urge the administration not to move forward with any sale of our most advanced F-35 jets. Erdogan has aligned himself with Iran and Russia, harbored Hamas, refused to sanction Russia, undermined American counter-ISIS operations, continues to illegally occupy part of Cyprus, and has repeatedly directed illegal military jet overflights above the Greek Islands, and called for the destruction of Israel. Additionally, he continues to jail his political opponents and has denied dozens of journalists access to the NATO Summit. Providing Turkey with our most advanced fighter jet would jeopardize U.S. national security, risk sensitive technology falling into the wrong hands, and endanger our allies in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East. https://t.co/Fm9f3DLgZQ
Sorry, Erdogan is not our friend. He’s a vicious tyrant. He has very evil ambitions. Erdogan plays our country off with Russia’s Putin. The administration will do what it’ll do. But it’s a mistake.
