I’ve said this before. Social media has amplified the egocentric bias and the spotlight effect. We’ve started to believe we’re the main characters of reality, as if everything happening around us exists in relation to us. That’s why people speak with such conviction even when they don’t fully understand other people’s experiences.
What she said is true, but some women not even men this time will still downplay it, not because it’s false, but because it doesn’t apply to every woman. The truth is, we’ve grown into a society with little empathy or emotional intelligence. We struggle to accept that we can’t generalise feelings or experiences we’ve never lived.
And we shouldn’t get triggered by what others say. Most people are just speaking from their own lens, shaped by their own world. In the end, no one is completely wrong; we’re just living in different realities.
