@bencobley I often put my headphones on just to cancel out the noise of other people's noise. If it weren't for the loud phone conversations of people playing games and videos on their phones, I wouldn't bother. I used to be able to read an actual book on a bus sometimes!

@canucker9 @NormalGayPsych Sure, I get that. I hate all the Pride stuff. It's just the original post related to worrying about the sort of conclusions people jump to when they find out you're gay. I was trying to make the point that you can inadvertently 'out' yourself in the most innocuous conversations.

Since when has 'growing up on a council estate' become a byword for 'growing up in abject poverty & deprivation'? Only the hyper-privileged would think so. I grew up on a council estate: trustworthy neighbours, tidy gardens, downstairs & upstairs loo, playgrounds for the kids...

@DarrenSole @LordOtter My partner just introduced me to Six Feet Under and I concur. Brilliant character-led drama. I always put in a vote for 'Tenko' in these conversations as well, if you can handle something even older. It's not at all slow paced. Just try & ignore the dodgy wigs in Series 1.
