Redis has this interesting feature called command pipelining. It allows a client to send multiple commands to the server in a single go without waiting for the replies for each individual request.
This significantly reduces the overhead caused by network round-trip time (RTT), especially when you need to perform a high volume of operations.
And, I just published a video where we implement it from scratch.
This is the 11th video in the Redis Internals series. It dives into the mechanics of how pipelining works under the hood and how a server can be designed to batch these requests efficiently while maintaining the correct order of responses.
If you want to understand how to optimize network throughput and build high-performance communication patterns in your backend services, this episode is an interesting addition to your database and system design knowledge. 11 videos are now live:
1. Why Single-Threaded Redis Is Fast
2. Writing a TCP Echo Server
3. Wire Protocols
4. Implementing RESP
5. Implementing PING
6. Understanding Event Loops
7. Implementing Event Loops
8. Implementing GET, SET, and TTL
9. Implementing DEL, EXPIRE, and Cleanup
10. Key Eviction Strats and Implementing First Eviction
11. Implementing Command Pipelining
For anyone passionate about systems design, database internals, or building robust backend services, this series offers a hands-on way to build deep technical intuition about performance optimization.
Hope this fuels your curiosity for systems engineering and the internals of high-performance data stores.
Give it a watch.
Bengal will see Expressways, Vande Bharats & Investments. It sits at such a strategic geographic location, that itโs a shame it was lagging behind.
Itโs time for the rise of Bengal. The resurgence of the erstwhile Capital of India, Kolkata.
Bengal's contribution to world GDP was 12% in the 1700s. Yes, 12%.
This is an important day in Indian politics. The BJP swept West Bengal after 34 years of Communist rule and 15 years of Mamata's govt. This changes everything.
I am a Bengali, I know the level of corruption, extortion, cut money, illegal immigration, and scams that were happening. Bengalis are intellectuals - if they decide they've had enough, they become a swing state like UP. Kolkata and Bengal reject staying in the past.
Go against any party or member you want - but never, ever in your wildest dreams go against our gods. Maa Durga and Maa Kali watch over everyone.
