1) We hand over ALL business in India to 4-5 corporates
2) Kill the competition entirely
3) Tax mid and small businesses like crazy
4) Turn citizens into a subscription model for airports, flights, mobile data, SIPs to a handful of players
5) Then we wonder why:-FIIs are leaving, people not making returns, no R&D happening
No competition = no innovation = predatory practices which turns citizens into subscription models for critical services.
1) We spent billions doing photography/marketing of politicians.
2) We spent billions running freebies.
3) We spent billions building pointless statues.
4) We handed over billions worth of resources to crony capitalists.
5) We spent billions pumping non-sense companies that mix sugar-cane juice with petrol.
Then we expect market to perform, 20% salary growth & 15 Lakh in each account.
Yeah sounds about right.
We are likely to have harder times in India (economically speaking).
The politicians have figured out the magic formula of winning elections -- even with negative economic progress.
Economy, jobs, living standards used to be the focal point of elections. Now, no more.
There is no political pressure anymore to pursue good economics. Honestly, not many would bother even if we have de-facto direct taxation at 50%.
You can come cry on Twitter. And, go away :)
Poor economics= few opportunities= fewer jobs= lower wealth.
The writing is there on the wall. The sooner you see it, the sooner you can rework your investment strategies.
I love the Bangalore metro! I use it almost everyday for my commute. But it keeps on surprising me.
Why do we forget to keep a parking place beneath a metro station? How are people supposed to come to the metro station? If we get parking then it will cost INR 30-40.
Then we parked in the nearby ground, which was then sealed off as well. Now we either need to come very early to park on the roadside (~8 AM) or better luck next time.
Already BLR roads are torturous, at least make the public transport convenient. Please!
Unrestrained bashing!
We need more of this. Reel makers should focus more on exposing poor civic infrastructure over dancing and lip-syncing to popular songs.
The administration may have thick skin, but public shaming might be the only way to get them to act.
@elonmusk If the answers can't be found on the internet or the books then how can he even solve it? Are you implying that somehow it has it's own intelligence?
Just a few years ago, it seemed like India was truly growing, you could feel the momentum.
Now, it feels like we’ve gone 50 years backward.
Bridges collapsing, roads getting washed away, stampedes becoming common & there's filth everywhere.
What the hell went wrong?
[1] A young person, struggles with money.
[2] A middle aged person, struggles with time.
[3] An old person, struggles with energy.
Excelling academically when you are kid, usually solves your money problems.
Planning ahead of time (financially!), probably gives you some free time when you are middle aged.
Working out when you are you are young/middle aged, usually keeps you fitter when you are old.
You don't need to constantly keep "worrying" about the future.
But planning for better health, wealth and time -- will keep your life smooth(er).
This is probably the reason why: humans are the only specie that are capable of forward thinking.
Folks: just move to Dubai or Singapore. No one expects you to learn local language.
It is a plus, if you know-- but you would NOT be thrashed by goons if you don't.
Just follow the law. Be a good resident.
Add to their economy.
And, get good facilities in return.
Better future for you kids.
And, good career opportunities.
Live and let live.
Few months back, I met a student who prepared for UPSC for 4 years, failed.
Then took a 2 year break to study for CAT, failed.
Cleared neither.
And, is now struggling.
It is easy to say: that he made a mistake. But, there is a more fundamental issue at play:-
I feel that mine was the last generation that benefitted from acing exams. The competition now is unreal.
Add reservation to the mix, these exams get unrealistically hard to clear.
Many hardworking/smart kids fail these. And, think they worthless.
To be honest: Competing for 1 seat out of 100/200/1000 candidates is not a test of your talent. But, a failure of our system.
Your energy could be better used getting into top 1% of something which actually improves your life:-
1) Example: any vocational skill.
2) Ability to build a small startup.
3) Ability to learn new things fast. And, experimenting with different career paths.
Even if you don't want to do any of the above, it is fine.
Try to get into the workforce early.
Preparing for exam is not a job.
There is a life outside IIT/UPSC/CAT/NEET
Karnataka & Goa banning taxi sharing apps
is a gentle reminder
why you should be opting for SEA destinations like Vietnam for vacations
India isn't interested selling itself a as a convenient place
neither to Indians, nor to visitors
Okay so let me get this straight: Citizens of India (including Goa) want Old/Uber to work in Goa.
(As it brings better services. And, makes the market more price competitive)
But, because the Taxi Union of Goa does not want that to happen. So this won't happen.
Taxi Union wants > Greater than the wants of Citizens of India.
1/ There's a concept known as financial compounding, but most people don't know about intellectual compounding. Buffett and Munger employed this to great effect and to accumulate mental models such that they can make large decisions quickly. Intuition is simply reading a lot.
