Replace By Fee was more destructive (than increasing supply would be) in my opinion. But BCH exists, so I am fine with "digital gold" being the popular chain.

Forking is bitcoin's no1 feature.

And it forked before "replace by fee" was implemented, which destroyed BTC as a layer 1 digital cash anyway.
