Seems neither “progressive” nor “conservative” to remove a user fee that has no major impact on affordability/access and costs the government (who has seemed very concerned about spending throughout the pandemic) $1.1 Billion to do it.
Great news, Ontario!
We’re eliminating licence plate renewal fees and stickers on March 13th for passenger vehicles, light duty trucks, motorcycles & mopeds.
Plus, we will be refunding millions of drivers for fees paid since March 2020.
#BREAKING: Ontario will NOT mandate vaccines for healthcare workers, citing high vax rates & staffing concerns. "Having looked at the evidence, our govt has decided to maintain its flexible approach by leaving human resourcing decisions up to individual hospitals" - Premier Ford
Imagine if they said
“And it’d allow would-be doctors to bypass the med-school gauntlet of intimidation & reeducation”
American policy discourse on education is really In its own world.
Ending teacher licensure would enable school leaders to recruit & more fully leverage all available talent.
And it’d allow would-be teachers to bypass the ed-school gauntlet of intimidation & reeducation.
These are good things.

The Ontario government has told the Star it will take a different approach than other provinces in developing its mobile app for COVID-19 vaccine certification, opting to build the program in house instead of contracting it out to a tech company. https://t.co/oFBotxDwOm
At every stage of this pandemic this government have made the wrong decision…without fail. Absolutely zero foresight.
I give it 60 days before case rates are very high again and they are forced to do this like the rest of the (rational) world.
#COVID19 Update: All #WesternU, @kingsatwestern, @huronatwestern, @BresciaUC students, staff and faculty who plan to be on campus this fall will be required to demonstrate proof of vaccination. https://t.co/X60P7YXMgh

Health Min @celliottability rejects push for vaccine passports, says people can get proof of vax after second shot for employers or anyone else who wants to see it. Suggests a vaxx passport smartcard could be prone to fraud. Also says no to mandatory vaxx for health care workers.
Ontario Solicitor General makes it clear: The Ford government won’t impose (her word) a proof of vaccination card on residents.
She says the vaccine receipt you received after your shots should be sufficient.

One of the most unique things about Americans is a near complete inability to look at the experience of other countries and learn from it. This is a phenomenon that exists even among educated people
The pandemic wouldn't have been as bad if public health officials had realized most people regard in-person social interaction as 'essential', are not bad people for it, and that a strategy centered around expecting them to sacrifice it for months at a time was never gonna work.

@traviskann@allieadamo@yelich_ivana - to clarify Is the stay-at-home order extended until we enter stage 1? Or will the province exit the stay-at-home on June 2nd remain in the “emergency break” until stage 1?
