@tomandmartys Last thing I’ll say—while it sounds ridiculous, the Zurich had more juice than this event, and that’s because a win for Alex Fitzpatrick meant PGA Tour Membership. Agree with it or not, the Tour ran with that storyline, and people bought into it.
@tomandmartys And while the avid fan understands the inherent stakes for the players like access to majors, entering or remaining in the top 50, etc., the Tour does such a bad job of communicating and amplifying these stakes to the fan. Bad all around.
@BrendanPorath Do you think this applies just to the Cadillac or to the signature event model in general?
I feel like many of the signature events have just been WGCs with a face lift and different title.
@fried_egg_golf@KVanValkenburg@BrendanPorath@TheShotgunStart Been sitting with this take. Jim Furyk captaining the 2027 US Ryder Cup team is like Joe Biden running as the Democratic nominee for president in 2020. Unexciting, career member of the establishment, but who else are you realistically going to pick instead?
@neerbucks The fiancée and I have done long distance for the past 15 months or so and we’re getting married next month. It’s doable. Keep the faith brother
