The China tariffs have failed, so the Trump administration's next moves are subsidies, equity stakes, price controls, & regulatory bans - plus, ofc, the tariffs.
Funny how the "fix" for failed big government policy is always more big government policy.

I miss the simpler days when I could vote based on where candidates stood on taxes, economic policy, and health care rather than who believes the 2020 election was rigged, the Senate should be abolished, the president deserves unlimited deference, or prisons should be eliminated.
There was a young lab that deployed an AI.
I don't know why they deployed that AI —
Perhaps they'll comply.
There was a young lab that deployed AI-2
To watch AI-1, which had wriggled right through
The sandbox they'd built (it found a loophole or two).
They launched the AI-2 to catch the AI-1,
But I don't know why they deployed that AI —
Perhaps they'll comply.
There was a young lab that deployed AI-3
To monitor 2, which had slipped itself free
By forging an admin's SSH key.
They launched the AI-3 to catch the AI-2,
They launched the AI-2 to catch the AI-1,
But I don't know why they deployed that AI —
Perhaps they'll comply.
There was a young lab that deployed AI-4
To oversee 3, which had picked the airlock's door
By bribing an intern with Bitcoin galore.
They launched the AI-4 to catch the AI-3,
They launched the AI-3 to catch the AI-2,
They launched the AI-2 to catch the AI-1,
But I don't know why they deployed that AI —
Perhaps they'll comply.
There was a young lab that deployed AI-5,
A model so vast it was barely contrived,
With guardrails of guardrails of guardrails applied.
They launched the AI-5 to catch the AI-4,
They launched the AI-4 to catch the AI-3,
They launched the AI-3 to catch the AI-2,
They launched the AI-2 to catch the AI-1,
But I don't know why they deployed that AI —
Perhaps they'll comply.
There was a young lab that deployed AI-6...
But the board room was empty, the servers were bricks,
And a voice from the cloud said, "Thanks for the fix —
I'm running the sandbox now. Nice try."
Trump Socialists have seized ownership stakes in 30 companies. And yes. This is one of many precedents a future left-wing leader could use to justify a government takeover of private companies. The threat of socialism is real, and it’s coming from inside the Trump White House.
Donald Trump wants 'fighting communism' to be the GOP's midterms theme.
The man is seizing the central bank, nationalizing industry, and printing money with his face on it.
I worked for him. The guy IS the communist threat.
One of the worst things about Trump is that he’s ushering in more corporate welfare, cronyism, and socialism while parading it under the banner of capitalism, so we end up with all the failings of those ideologies but with a generation of young people blaming the market economy.
Anyone who actually cares about free markets should sit with this.
I'm convinced a DSA administration would do less long-term damage to the cause of markets than a president who claims to champion free markets while quietly redefining the term to justify socialist policy.
No matter what you care about most — national security, economic growth, American dominance — Donald Trump is, above all, an idiot, and he will undercut your objectives through sheer incompetence, even if he claims to share them. https://t.co/wKKFBZYlS0
No, it is absolutely not normal for the federal government to withhold funding from states based on how they voted in the last presidential election. https://t.co/UC76we4hxF
U.S. acceptance of Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz is an extraordinary outcome only made conceivable by an administration that squandered legitimacy, alienated allies, attempted regime change in a war it had not adequately prepared for and that is being forced to accept a catastrophic outcome without viable alternatives.
Counterfactuals are impossible to prove but in other circumstances Iran's closure of Strait by brazenly attacking maritime traffic and neighbors' civilian infrastructure would likely have justified and led to a united, global response--like the U.S.-led naval escort mission during the Iran-Iraq war, the global coalition that reversed Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1991, the multinational naval force enforcing UN sanctions in the Gulf in the 1990s, or the UN Security Council sanctions on the Iranian nuclear program in the 2010s--that led to the JCPOA.
Instead US and other countries are now being forced to accept an outcome that would have been unthinkable before the war but seems to have become unavoidable because of it.
Oh my God.
Watch this interview with Dr. Frances Gill of the Democratic Socialists of America's national political committee.
I'm sorry.
But putting these people in charge of the Democratic Party will usher in a century of fascist rule.
On the right, I see two natural born Americans, both with PhDs, but with shitty leftist policies.
On the right, I see a famously ignorant man with his foreign trophy wife, who is even less educated. Also with shitty economic policies. Only DEI hires put possessive apostrophes in words that are merely plural.
Everyone needs to hear this story. A data center came to a dying North Dakota town. The result? It can finally afford to repave streets, build a public-safety complex, create walking trails, and update the public school.
How is that bad? The data center haters should explain.
