#TheAcidTest is a worldwide patient-led #MECFS#LongCovid#VaccineInjured project using at-home devices, like GlucoRx & Edge, to measure lactate at waking & 1 hr after breakfast
An official survey to collect results will come out soon

#TheAcidTest2?
People with Long COVID and ME/CFS, would you want to participate in a study using continuous lactate monitors?
The monitor would be similar to the CGMs available now & would be provided free.
It would require daily symptom tracking & wearing the sensor for 30 days.
1st participant recruited onto our #lacticacid study. A sober reminder of debilitating severe #ME. #physios please educate yourself about #ME and #Longcovid you can cause #pwme to develop severe #ME.
45 potential participants screened, 13 fu appts arranged.
@physiosforme
Please contact me if you would like to get involved in this study. We know that some #pwME have high levels of lactic acid but there are no studies that identify what is normal during every day activity. We want to compare #pwme and healthy comparators. Thanks
#TheAcidTest data collection is closing!!

We are so grateful for the huge number of responses, very exciting! If anyone else wants to contribute, we hope you have enough time &spoons to do so before then, thank you!! 🙏
first few days of #theacidtest: only one measurement >2, i.e. no really concerning values. Filled circles 1h after breakfast, empty ones after waking. Method is not very robust though, remeasured the high value twice (with new lancets) and it turned out much lower.
Felt today nausea, dizzy and sick in general. Took my lactate and it was 9,3mmol/L! An hour later with total rest & electrolytes dropped to 4,1, but still high I guess. 1/2

@AmandaB55744931 @DrNaomiHarvey @Naomi_D_Harvey @TwitterSupport This seems to be the only account I can use! It feels like Twitter is actively trying to stop me tweeting. Why on Earth would a whole new account be broken too? It’s beyond frustrating.
@lessorfewer @DrNaomiHarvey For some inane reason, Twitter has now stopped my new account from replying too!😩
I’ve just heard in one of the replies that the company have clarified they’re only excluding those with pre-existing POTS, which is better:
@coco_chatel @DrNaomiHarvey @Naomi_D_Harvey Ah that wasn’t at all clear in the clinical trials page, thank you! (For some inane reason, Twitter has now stopped my new account from replying too!😩)
@jenziew@Naomi_D_Harvey There are doctors listed on the website above who have expertise in POTS, many do work in the NHS. You can also go privately to Dr Gupta at York Cardiology, which I did to get diagnosed and treated, but I only knew to do so because I tested & diagnosed myself first.
@jenziew@Naomi_D_Harvey Are you aware of what POTS is? Because you just described it perfectly and I’d bet money you have it. This is Naomi by the way, my account won’t let me reply to anyone or tweet so I’ve resorted to this one for now. https://t.co/znNbDNrcSo
@Seafoam_Dream@Naomi_D_Harvey This is Naomi, my account hasn’t been working for hours so I can’t use it! That’s just pure incompetence. They clearly didn’t even know what it was!
@drclairetaylor @Naomi_D_Harvey This is Naomi, my account hasn’t allowed me to reply all day. Is there anything we can do, an open letter to someone with influence maybe? I get cardiology don’t manage POTS but they can’t keep telling people they’ve found nothing when POTS is indicated in the results.
