@RonDeSantis Wait till our counties/cities max out Milage, double or more the non ad valorem and add new special assessments… than we will probably see gas tax, sales tax and reg fees increased. You will get money back in one pocket while taking from other. Not speculation cold hard fact!

@mdavey628 @darrinsc @fasanomike people I have talked to do not understand their PT bill, actual AdValorem tax they pay vs everything else. Some actually pay more on other areas not their actual tax associated with home tax assessment. Others have not actually been homesteaded or just moved and bought way high

@HollyBullardFL Many long term homesteaders, especially in rural Florida will end up paying more in net taxes and fees after this passes and they don’t even realize it. Mileage rates will max out, There is no protection in the bill against any new fees and non advalorem is uncapped, it can 2-3x

On millage, people at least have ability to vote on reps & hold them to fiscal account & Vote them out, we can still do our best in that way

New/1st time home buyers are the ones carrying burden in fl. They have capped at inflated market

@BGwhatsaname @Juarez_Brock @HollyBullardFL That’s a very soft overview of how homestead works in FL. Most people just see how much they pay going up, but that is due to budget increasing milleage rate and non advalorem going up, not their actual assessment.

@BGwhatsaname @Juarez_Brock @HollyBullardFL If you bought home for 100k 10 years ago, and your assessment was 100% of market=100k - 50k homestead exemp, you are taxed on 50k after 10 years your market assessment may be 350k but you should be tax assessed at 134kish-50k=84kish, still not taxed at even original due to 3% cap

@PstrAThomas Is that your whole bill? What are your non advalorem charges?…they will go up day one and you will pay more there. Next there is no protection for new and special assessments, gas tax increase, sales tax increase…so do you know the new net tax amount you pay per year?

@j_fishback @ByronDonalds Please don’t quote budget increases without first factoring inflation costs. Desantis keeps posting this as well. Is there waste? Yes! But material costs have also doubled on many things that local gov uses, from paper to asphalt…etc….focus on the true wasteful spending number

@Jon_in_Florida @ReOpenChris Yep people don’t realize they are going to be paying the same on average and some will pay more. Many people in my county have 25k or less of taxable value, once non advalorem and special assessments are added/increased to make up difference they will pay more…

@ChrisMartzWX No denying bloat in large cities and counties, but much of rural Florida runs on skeleton crews for city and county services and pay below average wages…rural areas without commercial and industry will be decimated. Not for or against just reality the are dealing with.

@RAHarrisonPA @Juarez_Brock @hobbes16 @HollyBullardFL But they are also audited by the state, the DOR must certify your role, so if you do not track home values with market sales, they will refuse your role, and if an appraiser refuses the state can remove homestead of residence of the county.
