I did not know of Luis de la Rosa before his death, but... god damn. You really can just die at any moment for any reason. That's why you gotta lock in and do what you need to do NOW.
Mexican animator Luis De La Rosa has sadly passed away at the age of 34 following an accident shortly after attending the Annecy Festival, where he presented his project, ‘Ash Raider World.’
He contributed to numerous animated projects throughout his career, including Knights of Guinevere, Into the Spider-Verse, and many more.
I think too many cis people don't like it when a character they resonate with turns out to be trans..
makes them feel like we aren't too different from each other, which means it's harder to dehumanise, demonise and ostracise us
I'm low-key obsessed with this scene, how open interpretation to it is. Jax swooping in in the wake of Zooble's death and claiming everything they had over him: their freedom of gender expression, their loving girlfriend, even their little victory over him via the maid dress.
Andy's toys being like coworkers in an office vs Bonnie's toys being actors in a theater troupe was so good I wish they did ANYTHING to address that dichotomy in toy story 4
Digital Circus, per Goose herself, is about finding meaning in a stagnant life, and the "stagnant" part gives away more it may seem. It presumes that there is no breakthrough, no revolution, no paradigm shift. It's very current-day: People need change but it seems insurmountable.
This will happen in the future, right? I don’t think they can stay there for years. Eventually they’d lose their sense of purpose in life and get bored. And if Pomni feels guilty about being the survivor, she’d probably be the first one to abstract #tadc#pomni
This is the central thesis of TADC and also where I find it somewhat disappointing. It takes an existentialist view of life and meaning, which, while perhaps empowering in the short term, is highly unsustainable and inevitably collides with structural forces.
I hope that, before this becomes a term as prevalent as “death of the author”, everyone does their due diligence and read both Azuma’s work and those it draws from, such as Baudrillard and Lyotard
@twofacedlovr He used to be a Lost Cause believer, so it's fair to assume he was in other unsavory circles too, but I'll be damned if his videos aren't the most favorable use of Nazi and Confederate memorabilia.
