Me: “What does he need a fake wife for? And what happens after those few days?”

She looked down at her hands.

Girlfriend: “He says the arrangement is temporary. He'll pay me, and then I'll come back to my normal life.”

Me: “Have you agreed to this already?”

それでも、常連客はこの店を愛していた。
夜勤明けに立ち寄る人もいれば、北海道の長い冬に、味噌ラーメンの丼で冷えた手を温めるために来る人もいた。
売り上げが落ち始めた頃、私は父に店を売り、もっと小さな場所に引っ越すことを提案した。
父：「この店には、まだ役目があるんだ」
私：「役目って何？　もう支払いを済ませるだけでも大変なのに」
