@RepGlennIvey We, your constituents, desperately want your actions to reflect our urgent need to stop US funding bombing of innocent civilians in Gaza & beyond. We know you get calls about this daily. Stop funding war & fund public healthcare, education, climate resilience, infrastructure etc!
2. Guantanamo Bay, 2002. Over 300 Muslim men & some boys were held without charge and on flimsy ‘evidence’. Aby prison that is made to hold a specific population of people only is illegal under international law. It is a torture camp. Between 91-‘92, over 40k Haitian asylum seekers fled after a US/France-backed coup of Haiti’s first democratically-elected leader. HW Bush turned them away & the coast guard rerouted them to Gitmo.
Gitmo then became a concentration camp for Haitians w/HIV, later ruled unconstitutional.
I’ve known the world was fucked my entire adult life, but to learn it’s this bad—that not a *single* leader in the West has the moral fibre to condemn an active genocide—unequivocally shows that everything about our society is a charade designed only to control and exploit us
who gives a fuck when no one can afford rent, childcare, college or to see a doctor and the man is spending our fucking money to blow the the lungs out of infants so they die gurgling in their own blood
COVID is continuing to cause mass death and disability? Get back to normal!
Record-setting summer of climate disasters? Get back to normal!
Do not let them manufacture consent. Giving up benefits the rich and the powerful, and harms the majority of us.
There was this time when I thought there was nothing like an airborne pandemic to show people how intertwined our health is.
So now I'm hesitant to think that Canada's wildfires will teach us anything about climate change, environmental health hazards not caring about geography

We are urging @councilofdc to vote NO on the Migrant Services and Supports Emergency Amendment Act in its current form.
It contains provisions that would bar countless migrants from establishing residency to access services and instead provides them with limited alternatives. 🧵
