Polish resistance identified, captured & analysed a V2, then smuggled it to Britain. It sounds like an outrageous script, but it's the true and astonishing story of the Polish Home Army's actions which saved countless British lives. It's also the excellent new book by @guywalters
@SamCoatesSky He has never accepted the work and responsibility that comes with public office, all he wants is the publicity and attention. He's dodged work and resigned from leadership more often than I can remember, he'll walk away from any possible PM position, and demand a peerage.
@PulpLibrarian Dear Lord, this one is still etched into my memory all these years later. Time and again I'd come across it whilst flicking through album racks in the Co-op arcade and think "why"?
@ChrisPatterDu@donttakethepeas@GordonFbpe@UK_Republic Each of those points has been addressed time and again by me and others, if you can't or won't understand the simple truths about a corrupt and pointless institution I can't help you. There, thats one more response than I intended or that you deserved, go away now please.
@ChrisPatterDu@donttakethepeas@GordonFbpe@UK_Republic The French Revolution was an appalling horror, of course, but the permanent removal of an indefensible monarchy was a better solution than our meek appeasement.
@ChrisPatterDu@donttakethepeas@GordonFbpe@UK_Republic The only reason the CE and the Duchies exist at all is a result of an attempt to avoid embarrassing the bankrupt monarch in the 1700s. The result was an opaque fudge which needs to be resolved by finally removing the medieval throwback. The French probably had the right idea.
@Jacquel35555676@TomSoede Ghastly politician, rotten constituency MP, she gambled and lost, and no matter how crazy it sounds now, Sunak was a better option for the country.
@TomSoede Yes to all of this. Braverman is nothing if not ambitious and will never forgive life for her failure to beat Sunak to the top job, (and just imagine how the alternative scenario would have looked).
@ChrisPatterDu@donttakethepeas@GordonFbpe@UK_Republic Yes, the property of the Crown, which is the institution which is part of the State. When the Windsors go the Crown Estate stays with the State, as do the Duchies.
