This is mid-decade redistricting (not tied to the decennial census). Florida gained one new congressional seat after the 2020 census (going from 27 to 28 seats, effective 2022). The 2026 changes redraw existing districts to create more Republican-leaning ones—potentially shifting the state's delegation from roughly 20R-8D toward 24R-4D based on recent voting patterns—rather than adding extra seats beyond the current 28.

The new boundaries are now in place for candidate filing and campaigning in the 2026 cycle.
