In 2008, CA voters passed prop 8 to effectively ban same sex marriage. Courts told those voters the same thing, that their votes didn't matter. This one went to the supreme court to tell the entire country that their opinion did not matter.

have you looked at the maps for the rest of the country compared to party affiliations? The gerrymandering has been going on for decades, primarily in favor of Dems.

Virginia and California want to say they are responding to what Texas has done, but many Dem led states look even worse. Illinois has a district in the middle of the state shapes like Harry Potter's wand pointed to the NE toward Chicago.

have you looked at the new england states? How their population voted in 2024 v the representation in congress?

Many "blue" states have similar looking maps regardless of the leanings of the population of said state. Everyone is up in arms over the gerrymandering in the "red" states even though the "blue" states have done it for years.

I think that it needs to be eliminated in all states. Independent commissions need to do the map realignments after a census. California had that until they chose to eliminate it last year. Virginia says that this redistricting will be " temporary".

We shall see.
