🍂There's so much PD in early fall!🍂In this study, researchers reviewed & meta-analyzed 104 studies of PD. Approaches most likely to lead to growth in student achievement (a lot of PD doesn't) had at least one element of each of the four constructs below. https://t.co/yMQBSFahnx

Convinced that building knowledge is a key to long-term literacy success but not sure how that translates into everyday classroom practice? ✅out this post w/ 10 key practices from our #KnowledgeMatters Scientific Advisory Committee https://t.co/9aHJymzKyY @ASCD @ClassroomWonder
Repeated reading is not the only option for building fluency. Reading lots of texts only once, often w/ an adult or peer listening, correcting, defining words, &/or asking comprehension ?s, also has pos effects on fluency & comprehension in a # of studies. https://t.co/2zy2ETq0g8
I ❤️ practical ways to support executive functions:
"When the design of the classroom tells students what to do, it frees up working memory for learning content rather than procedure."
"An outsider should be able to walk into a classroom and understand most of these systems."
Stop teaching memorization of high frequency words through chants. Shift to promoting phoneme grapheme relationships so kids understand regular vs irregular parts.

Tis the season for celebrations … for finishing a unit, writing publication, year end,the holiday season, etc. Celebrations can be great opportunity learning, for student voice, reflection and peer mentorship. Sharing some fun ideas 👇🏼#letmeknowhowitgoes#tcrwp

We have teachers out here exclaiming (over and over again), “They don’t even understand how to….” Or “these kids can’t.” This thinking will never move us forward.
It’s not them, it’s you. Try a different approach (or many) AFTER you unpack your own biases.
Anytime I'm with the incredible educators at @LCSGhana, I know we are going to be diving into ways to keep kids at the center of our decision-making.
Today was no different. 💕💖
I can't wait for more to come with G4 and G5 teachers in the weeks ahead!

What is Accelerating phonics instruction? Moving systematically & expediently through a scope & sequence prioritizing high utility patterns (gpcs),cutting out activities that are not decoding & spelling.(There is superfluous stuff in phonics)Accelerating is not ad hoc instruction
The extensions included in the phonics curriculum can be tucked into all parts of the literacy block throughout the school day. Thank you @jessicasauer100 for helping us think through the process of flipping an extension into a microlesson. #KellerLiteracy#TCRWP
Thank you @TCRWP@lucycalkins@colleen_cruz for letting me be part of today's learning #tcrwpsaturdayreunion. You have built a powerful global community of educators. Keep doing the important work that you are doing to support our students and our educators! #tcrwp
I remember being asked in an interview last year, “would I still welcome my students with customized greetings once they return?” My response remains the same, you don’t have to physically touch a child to actually “touch” a child. #thedopeeducator
